The most fun websites on the small web for me are homes for misfit programming projects: code that was written not because anyone needed it, but because it was interesting to make as a programmer and mildly amusing for a visitor.

One thing that is interesting about her philosophy for the projects she puts on the site is that she likes to build things without libraries, mostly for the sake of doing as much as you can with vanilla Javascript (and/or php) and learning how things work under the hood.

On one hand you might think that is limiting, but it's also impressive considering one of her projects is a game engine. It's a simple game engine to be fair, but it's an interesting thing to keep in mind as you browse the entries of the site.

It's one of my favorite sites to revisit because each time I return there are new projects marked with a little "new" graphic, so its easy to tell what's been updated. There is an image to ascii generator, a music beat maker thing idk, and this

Projects like these are grouped into categories like "marginally useful", "weird", and "relatively interesting".

One last thing I have to say: Don't leave the site until you check out the art page. Some of it is mildly dark but you're a wuss if you can't handle it so definitely worth looking at while you're there.

Oh, and don't forget to check back in on Christmas and Halloween.
